Supt. Jessie J. Smith, Jr.

Pastor Jessie James Smith, Jr. is a native of Palestine, Arkansas.  He was educated int he public school system there.  He graduated from Lincoln High School in Forest City, Arkansas.  He was a member of the Boys Club in St. Francis County, Arkansas.

He moved to St. Louis in the 1950s.  He later continued his education at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park.

In 1967 he accepted his call to ministry.  In 1971 he was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ (COGIC).   In 1980 he founded the New Mount Zion Church of God in Christ. in St. Louis, Missouri.  In 1987 the growing church moved to a new location.  He served the national and local evangelist departments from 1985 until 1988.

In 2003, he was named Superintendent of the Gus Martin District through the Eastern Missouri Church of God in Christ under Bishop R.J. Ward.

Through a number of departments at his church, he reaches out to the neighborhood to compel boys and girls, men and women, to come to Jesus now.

He is married to the lovely Mrs. Mozella Smith.  She is an evangelist missionary in the COGIC.  They have three adult children, Elder Cleodis Weaver, Bro. Jerome Smith and Sis. Lisa Smith.  They also have three grandchildren, many great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
